What's New in Echo Fire 2.0
- Realtime previews in After Effects now include audio (requires After Effects 5.0).
- Realtime previews in After Effects include VTR-style playback control.
- Video to FireWire routing allows any application that can play QuickTime movies to play DV movies out the FireWire, including DigiDesign ProTools and MOTU Digital Performer.
- New scaling options give you full control over how your image is mapped to the video preview frame.
- New bilinear and bicubic scaling options give greater accuracy when scaling previews.
- New codec release handling makes it easier to use Echo Fire with multiple applications using shared hardware like Media 100.
- Drop Play utility includes timecode display and VTR-style playback control, as well as the ability to display still images.
- New hotkey to save the video preview image to a file.
- New hotkey to toggle test instruments on and off.
- Photoshop previews now support grayscale, indexed, and 16-bit images.

Pricing and Availability
Echo Fire 2.0 for Macintosh is expected to begin shipping in May 2001. The list price for Echo Fire is US $275.
Upgrades From 1.1
Owners of Echo Fire 1.0 or 1.1 can upgrade to 2.0 for US $49. Customers purchasing Echo Fire 1.1 between March 1, 2001 and 30 days after Echo Fire 2.0 ships are eligible for a free upgrade to the latest version.

Adobe After Effects 4.1 or later, and/or Adobe Photoshop 5.0 or later, including After Effects 5.0 and Photoshop 6.0.
FireWire users will need a camcorder, VTR, or similar device to convert FireWire to video.
